Rhiannon West - 2nd Horn
Rhiannon joined the band in early 2019 when she moved to Fakenham from Wales. She began playing when she was at primary school, at the age of 7 years, and comes from a family of brass players, some of whome have played with some exceptional bands.
As well bas brass, Rhiannon has played the violin and sung in choirs. She has taken part in solo, duet, quartet and ensemble competitions over the years. Before joining Fakenham, Rhiannon played with Upper Rhondda Brass Band, Ynyshir Brass Band, RCT County Band and Four County Band.
Rhiannon enjoys listening to and playing anything, however she admits to liking a bit of house/dance music!
Rhiannon says that the thing she enjoys most about being in the band is 'creating great music with a fabulous bunch of people'.
Rhiannon recalls her most memorable incident as being at a competition in the Winter Gardens at Weston-Super-Mare when she was playing cornet, the whole band had a beats rest and she played during it - apparently the adjudicators remarks complimented her for being a very good note, but a little too early! They do say, if you're going to play a wrong note then do it properly!
