Tony Grover - 2nd Trombone

Tony joined Fakenham Town Band in November 2004 after several months nurturing his skills at the band's Monday night workshops.

Tony is not new to brass playing as he played at school between 1967 and 1971. Other musical experience has been in the form of playing the side drum when in the Boys' Brigade.

As well as playing with the band, Tony's enjoys Ten Pin Bowling, Cribbage, Theatre (mainly musicals) and caravanning.

Tony bought his first instrument from his trombone teacher at school. It was a King Bb trombone and cost £40, paid by weekly instalments of 5 shillings, which was funded by a paper round.
On leaving school and starting a shift-based job, Tony was saddened by having to give up playing and selling his instrument. He really loved playing in concerts with his school orchestra and promised himself he would return to playing one day. Fakenham Town Band is certainly pleased that this promise was kept.

Tony says that being part of Fakenham Town Band is really good fun. He finds everyone is friendly, helpful and patient in helping his progression and he says that one day he hopes to be as good as the kids in the band!

Tony says he enjoys being in the the band because it is fun.
