Graham Lewis - Solo Cornet
Starting to play cornet at the age of 5, Graham is the band's earliest starter. Following in his father's (Brian's) footsteps, Graham's first steps were within Salvation Army bands in Fakenham and Norwich and Manchester Citadel bands. The latter was during Graham's university years. Graham joined Fakenham Town Band in Summer 2004 after a number of year's rest from playing. A very welcome addition to the band membership, Graham completes the rank of front-line cornets and his wealth of skills and experience certainly makes a difference! Graham has played flugel on odd occasions in the past and also the piano (badly according to himself - we will try to validate this in due course!) Other interests are Squash and Running. Graham is enjoying his return to banding and says he particularly likes exploring the composer's artistry and the bandroom banter. Graham recalls a humorous/embarrassing time playing at a lifeboat service. The organisers situated the band on a launch alongside the quay. During the service the tide went out very quickly, with the band disappearing from the sight of the quayside crowd. A ladder has to be fetched to retrieve the band members back to terra-firma!
