A huge well done to the band's young members who gained outstanding
results at the Cromer & Sheringham brass contest.
Amanda played a polished performance
on solo trombone to gain a second place in the Air Varie Section
and Amanda, Harriet, Hanna and James conducted by Stephen, played
a difficult quartet to earn first place.
Very well done to you all!
13th September 2007

18th November 2006
Congratulations
to Amanda on achieving 3rd place
in the Air Varie and Florid solo section at the Cromer & Sheringham
contest today. You should be very proud of such a high placing
and such complimentary comments from one of the country's best
fellow trombone players; Nick Hudson. Well done!

of Ella Rose. Best wishes from all at Fakenham Town Band.
12th July 2006
Well done to Abigail for the excellent feedback
received for her playing of The Last Post and Reveille this week.
Abigail (aged 15) played the moving rendition to a packed Reepham
church at a funeral.
This was Abigail's first solo performance of the Last Post and
from the excellent feedback, it is apparent that it was a performance
worth celebrating!
12th July 2006
The band's history book
is launched as part of the band's 125th anniversary celebrations.

The band took part in a lovely concert/party for
cornet player Brian and his wife
Margaret tonight. The surprise event organised by Graham,
was to celebrate Brian's and Margaret's 70th birthday's. Fakenham's
Salvation Army Band and Town Band joined forces along with guest
soloists and a great evening was had by all.
Happy belated birthday to you both!
2nd February 2006

Fakenham Town Band's longest serving member Bernard
Wright sadly passed away on the 1st February aged 91. Bernard
joined the band in 1928 aged 14 and was a continuous member throughout
his lifetime. Bernard was the backbone of the band and shaped
much of the way that the band operates today. After retiring from
playing in 1998, Bernard attended rehearsals as a spectator regularly
until just before winter 2005, providing words of advice and encouragement.
Bernard will be missed, but his hard work within Fakenham Town
Band will continue; ranging from his many musical arrangements
through to the culture that is firmly imprinted within the band
from his leadership.

Well done to Abigail, Amanda,
Laura and Vicky today. A fine performance especially as you'd
already played for a long time in the morning and afternoon. A

the junior Air Varie - a great result!

22nd July 2005
Fakenham Town Band announces that engagements involving marching
will no longer be taken other than the long-standing arrangements
for Remembrance Day parades.
The main reasons for this are around health & safety and the
fact that large modern brass instruments are not designed for
marching.
17th May 2005
More success for band members!
Vicky Sayer and Laura
Channell have respectively passed grade 5 on Tuba and grade
3 (distinction) on Euphonium.
Congratulations to you both - results to be proud of!
14th May 2005
Farewell to Stephen Corrigan.
Stephen joined the band after a plea for additional percussionists.
Stephen's contribution helped the band achieve the pleasing 6th
place position at Stevenage. Unfortunately, study commitments
have meant that Stephen's current term with the band was a short
one.
You'll be welcome back any time Stephen.

Another excellent
Contest Performance!
It was the first time for 52 years that Fakenham Town
Band has played in the Championship section of the East Anglian
Brass Band Association contest.
The band played the taxing test piece 'Kenilworth' by Arthur Bliss
and came a commendable 2nd place in the section.
Well done everyone for such hard work!
21st March 2005
Excellent Contest
Result!
Band members are delighted with the band's 6th place
position achieved in the London & Southern Counties leg of
the National Brass Band Finals.
The result reflects the hard work that the members have put into
preparation for the event. It is also testament to the full compliment
of players that the band is currently enjoying.
Well done all - keep it up!
25th February 2005
The band is pleased to be
invited to perform again at the Songs of Praise at The Thursford
Collection on Sunday 9th October.
The annual event hosted by the local Methodist circuit took on
a new format in 2004 and was jointly hosted by BBC Radio Norfolk.
The rejuvenated format proved a resounding success, with all 500
available seats being taken. A similar format will be used for
this year's event and more seats are expected to be available
so as to not disappoint anyone.

and contribute.
20th November 2004
Well done to Abigail Jarvis,
Laura Channell, Amanda Sayer and Vicky Sayer who took first place
in the Cromer & Sheringham Solo, Duet and Quartet Contest
today.
The four talented young players conducted by Gail Jarvis proved
that girl power stills exists as they took the top spot playing
'Hand Me My Trumpet'.
This was the girls' first time competing as a quartet so it was
extra special when it was announced that they had beaten 4 other
local quartets to gain the premier position.
Congratulations also to Peter Dixon who took 3rd place in the
solo contest.
